How does ClariFix® work?
Bothered by Constant Runny Nose or Post Nasal Drip? If you suffer from a constant runny nose, drainage down your throat and/or congestion, you may have chronic rhinitis. Chronic rhinitis is the inflammation of the nasal mucosa causing excessive mucus secretion (runny nose), congestion, itching and sneezing. Rhinitis can be either allergic, non-allergic or mixed. Nasal nerves regulate functions of the nose, such as nasal secretions. It is thought that interrupting these nerves results in the reduction of symptoms such as rhinorrhea and nasal congestion.

What is ClariFix®?
ClariFix® is an FDA approved, clinically-proven, minimally invasive cryotherapy tool that uses a cooling probe to freeze a small, inflamed area in the back of the nose. By freezing this tissue, ClariFix® helps relieve inflammation and interrupts the signals from the out-of-balance nerves that are causing your symptoms.
The process takes less than 5 minutes and can be performed in our office.
Does ClariFix® hurt?
No! ClariFix® is painless. We apply topical anesthetic to the inside of the nose before beginning the procedure. While the ClariFix® device is being used you may feel some slight pressure and a cooling sensation.
Occasionally, a patient may have a slight “ice cream headache” for a minute or so after the procedure. You can return to normal activity the same day.
Will I still need nasal medications after the surgery?
For most patients, ClariFix® completely eliminates or dramatically decreases the need for continued medications and nasal sprays. Of course, this can vary by patient, but clinical studies indicate that 4 out of 5 patients reported long-lasting relief of their chronic rhinitis symptoms. It usually takes between 2 and 6 weeks post-treatment to reach maximum improvement.
